In 2003 Russia and the international
community will celebrate two anniversaries —
55 years of UNTSO which was the first
UN operation and 30 years of Russian
participation in UN peacekeeping operations.
On these accasions Russian peacekeeping veterans
and the Museum of Peacekeeping Operations proposed
to form a National Committee consisting
of representatives of the ministries, bodies
and NGOs participating in UN peacekeeping.
The principal purpose of the Committee
is to celebrate the anniversaries
for the benefit of the dissemination
of the ideas of culture of peace
and peacekeeping.
